Age of Legends Comments
Hey Vic! I’m touched that you noticed man. I’ve been itching to get back into roll playing for some time now. While I’d like to use my AoL campaign setting, as you can see my site is an absolute mess! So if I want to use this as the basis of a new campaign at some point I have to tidy things up a bit. Problem is I don’t know the first thing about CSS, and worse, I really don’t have much time to learn it. I was sort hoping I might be able to do a salvage job by tinkering with the archaic html code still embedded on the site. But I’m quite rusty and it will be slow going.
Anyway, I do hope at some point to get a new campaign under way, but that may be some time from now. If I do, I’ll likely create a new campaign page, albeit one much simpler and more functional than my AoL page. Thanks for stopping by to check on me friend. I hope all is well in your neck of the world.
Does this mean that you are returning??
You are missed…..
Thanks so much for the kind words Basileus! I really enjoyed this campaign and was sad to see it end. Borrow whatever you like, and best wishes on your own campaign.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
I love the very clean, professional design on display here. Certainly worth
shamelessly stealing fromlearning from and emulating, because this campaign looks great!@ Garran, sorry for the delayed reply, somehow I missed this. I think they found me through Deviantart, but not positive.
@ Leo9sign, welcome to the Portal man! Thanks for the kind words, I spent quite a while designing this site a few years back, but I drew a lot of inspiration from other campaigns here as well. Best of wishes on your own site. Also there are some great CSS guides and tips and tricks on the forums page if you need a little help with the technical side of things.
I have only recently discovered Obsidian Portal. Your wiki is truly inspirational! Your choice of textures and images are exceptional. Thanks for your hard work and giving us something worthy of aspiration.
That’s pretty awesome dude :). How did you hook up with these guys? Was it through the guild?
Thanks Gaaran! Most of it was done in GIMP, but I also used Inkscape to do some of the labeling. I’m currently working on another set of Sci-fi maps for a video game called Rise of Emodo which is currently being funded via Kickstarter. I was really psyched that that they asked me to do the commission, especially since it meant working along side of Jonathon Roberts, who is one of the big names in the industry (which makes me want to work extra hard so that my work doesn’t look like just child’s play next to his).
Dude… I went and looked through your gallery on the Cartographer’s Guild for the first time in quite a while… That’s some great work you’ve been doing there. I actually really like your design on the sci-fi map. Did you do that all in gimp? Sick work dude… :)
No worries Spyinspy, nice to here you like the site.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Wow, when I saw this page full of comments, I was half expecting you to be a condescending genius who would not reply to the comments here, I guess I stand corrected, sorry for been so judgmental.
Great work with this page!
Hi there Falcon42, thanks for the compliment on my maps. For most of these I used two programs: GIMP, a freeware raster program similar to Photoshop, and Wilbur, a terrain manipulation program. Both of these programs are free to download (just do a Google search). Also, over at the Cartographers Guild I have written a few tutorials that describe some of my map-making techniques. Here is a link to my profile page which has links to these tutorials (though you may need to sign up for an account there to view them):
http://www.cartographersguild.com/members/arsheesh.html
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Hi there,
Those maps are stunning! What di you use to create them?
Regards,
Falcon42 :::)
Hi Sonnis, sorry for the delayed reply, the academic semester is just wrapping up for me and I haven’t been checking in on my OP account much recently. Glad to know you figured out what you needed on your own though, and I look forward to checking out your site.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Don’t worry – worked it out. They are not so much suppressed as hidden. Still need to do a lot of work on our site (especially the art) but your guides have been a great help.
Thanks again anyway for giving us inspiration and something to aspire towards.
Brilliant campaign, both the content and the layout are fantastic. Really appreciate the information you have given on the format as it has helped a lot to improve the layout of our campaign Adventure of the Seven Dorks.
The only part I have not been able to work out is how you have done the Adventure Logs. I’d like to do the same sort of thing and have a single page with chapter headings which then link to the individual log entries, but I cannot work out how you have been able to suppress display of all the old log entries. I can create the index without a problem and link it to the logs, but the old ones still keep coming up underneath it. However while you seem to be using the in-built log function (your links are to logs not wiki pages) but have somehow prevented all but the index from being displayed. Any hints you could give on this would be greatly appreciated.
Wow, thanks so much for the compliment Mercutio361! I’m really glad to here you like the site. Also, for a long time I wasn’t sure if anyone was reading those adventure logs (I don’t think many of my party members even did!) so I’m glad to here that you are. Also, just so you know I’ve got a page in the “Miscellany” section that talks about how I formatted the site (HTML code and all that) that may be useful to you if you are thinking about customizing your site.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
This is, as is said many times by others already, the most impressive campaign I’ve seen on OP. The images and layout work are absolutely astounding, and I’ve been having a great time reading the adventure logs. This is what I aspire to for my Legends of Azebron campaign (though I’m a LONG, LONG way off from anything this extravagant!).
Thanks Dave! I’ve seen some of your maps already, but I’ll check out your site sometime soon. Look forward to seeing how the maps of your unique post-catastrophe world take shape.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Hi Arsheesh,
Just popping over to your site to look around. Even if you aren’t actively running the campaign anymore, there is plenty here to draw on for inspiration. Absolutely beautiful. I’m striving for a visual effect ,as well as practical, on my own violent skies I see a lot here to give me ideas on how to change the look of things. When I get to making Maps on the Guild, I hope you’ll take a look. Thanks in advance!
Dave
Hey thanks Killer! Actually, this Inn featured prominently in one of the adventures over at my Tales of Darkmoon Vale (though it was the last adventure, and I never did get around to writing it up). Thanks for noticing.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
The West Baronies map is awesome! Can we meet at the Golden Falls Inn for a drink?
Thanks FourthLion, I’ll do that.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Great campaign :) really like the page.
If you get time please check out our Earthdawn page, were just setting it up so it’s not much at the moment but defiantly look forward to using the site more :)
The Circle of Light
Thanks R.A. I used GIMP to create the maps. It’s sort of a poor man’s Photoshop. You can download the latest version for free from their site (just Google “GIMP”). Course I got allot of direction on map design early on from the Cartographers Guild, and would recommend dropping by their site if you are looking for tutorials on fantasy map making. It really is a neat online community.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
what did you use to make the maps? Great setting by the way!
Sandman! Great to see you back again my friend! It seems like ages since I’ve talked with you. I’m not around the forums as much these days due to the demands of my PhD, but I do try to keep up with any questions or comments. I’m about to log off but I will have to hit you up with an email sometime and find out how life has been treating you. Till then, take it easy.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Glad to see you’re still around here Arsheesh, answering comments, favoriting other campaings as well, etc. Just wanted to stop by and say hello :)
Cheers my friend.
-Sandman
Hi JD, thanks for the feedback. Actually, I tough on both of your questions in the Acknowledgements section of this site, but basically: 1) With a few exception most of the artwork on this site is borrowed from other sources (a partially complete list of credits is available in the “Art Credits” section); 2) I am using GIMP, a sort of poor man’s Photoshop, and Wilbur, a terrain manipulation program, to do these maps. I owe much of my map making skills to the Cartographer’s Guild, which is a wonderful online community of map enthusiasts dedicated promoting their craft. If you are interested in making your own maps, and haven’t yet been to their site, I’d highly recommend doing so. There are hundreds of free tutorials and tips on map making, as well as a helpful community to offer you feedback on your work. Anyway, hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks again for the kind words.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
wow. fantastic presentation for a fantastic world. i don’t know if this has been asked yet on here but 1) the art: creative commons or original? 2) what did you use to make the world maps?
Hey thanks so much taking the time to give me feedback Kyoh, it really is appreciated!
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
This whole page is amazingly done. Kudos to you, sir.
Test, Test…
Why thank you very much Kozaim! Currently this campaign is on an indefinite hiatus however as my wife and I have just moved from the States to New Zealand for school. Don’t know when we’ll be playing next. At any rate, thanks for you comment though.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
A wonderful world you have created. How much i’d love to play it!
Thanks killer, but the world will not go away. I’ve got plans yet for this here campaign setting; it’s just that it won’t occupy as much of my attention while I’m writing my dissertation. Who knows though, perhaps I’ll pitch the skype idea to my players and see what they think. I know that at least Craig and I would really like to see the campaign come to a natural conclusion (the other players are my wife and his wife, who game with us mostly for our sake, and God bless them for it!).
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Amazing Map!!! You have outdone yourself! This is amazing!
Please try Skype once a month with your group. We do not want your world to go away.
Hey Sheesh (saw your little test, test, if you’re looking for an acknowledgement) quick question. For your images you have a very organic looking edging scheme to them that looks great. I’m working on one of my own, but I’m not satisfied with it and was wondering how you do yours? An example:
Thanks Gaaran, your site is on a very short list of my all-time favorite OP sites as well. I look forward to the day when you return to work on your opus.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Hey Sheesh, didn’t see when it happened but congrats on passing me on the popular campaigns page! ;) I need to get another game going to get some inspiration to work on my campaign setting again, but it might be a little while yet. I love what you’ve done with your page, definitely one of my all-time favorites on the site, and it just keeps getting better and better!
Beautiful Work !! (yes this is the same jtougas as at the Cartographers Guild :)
Just popping in to say Hi! Not had much time to read through stuff lately but I am heartened to see you are still active. twigs
Great updates as always my friend! I can’t recall if they were there before and I simply never noticed them, but I love the pictures of your dungeon set, especially the lovely touch of the painted on blood on the Alter of Genocron!
@Twigs, you know I hadn’t even thought of that, but now that you mention it perhaps Glaurung was lingering in my subconscious as I wrote this entry (so much of my writing seems to be influenced in one way or another by Tolkien).
@T.W. Thanks buddy! If you have any questions about anything on the site let me know. I have started a HTML templates page and you just reminded me that I’ve got to get to updating it.
@Grokkit, hey thanks, you’ve got a great campaign site there my friend.
Arsheesh! “Take me to Glendor Wood!” The picture is so evocative and the very place seems bristling with excitement and danger. Although you mention that your wingless wyrms are lesser ones, still I am reminded of Glaurung from the Silmarillion. Now there was a wingless wyrm to avoid.
twigs
This campaign is one of the most impressive works of fantasy i have seen really, extremely detailed and great imagery. I highly admire your work well done! How do you get your page so customized? However you do it i doubt i would ever be able to do it as well, really great work :)
Thanks again for becoming a Fan (again)! Your site, as always, continues to be among the best here!
Twiggy, thanks buddy! Our last game was a blast. The party is in the midst of a war right now and they just led the charge against an army of over 7,000 orcs. It was a rush! Can’t wait till our next session.
Dyluth, glad you found it useful. I’ll continue to add to it in the weeks ahead.
Arsheesh. Glad to see you are still hard at work. Layout remains one of the most striking on OP but I am also glad to see you are getting to play and so have enjoyed the adventure log updates. Search into the Valley of Lost Souls, retrieving the Chronicle of the Dwarves, battle with the liches, Erusha and Genocron, and the search for the Silver Key. All very exciting stuff, and I am sure it is even better at the table!
Arsheesh I am loving new HTML Templates section, it’s a great way to share the great wealth of knowledge you’ve accumulated with the community at large!
Arsheesh! Your new layout work for Age of Legends is the best in the business!!! Truly astounding. (I don’t know if you know, but your “RULES” link on your main Wiki Page is not presently working).
Keep well, Mark aka twiggyleaf
Beautiful presentation, Arsheesh.
Wow! It’s been a little while since I’ve visited Tad and I’m awestruck with your new ‘pimped’ site. Lovely layout and graphics, which does so much to encourage further exploration of your beautifully crafted world(s). Truly inspiring stuff, long may you have the time and passion to continue with your work. Respect – Matthew :-)
By the Dark Lords Thyrn, man are these renovations are SPECTACULAR!! I agree with twiggyleaf that the Places section of the wiki is jaw droppingly detailed (it’s inspired me to get back to work on my map of the galaxy for my game) but my favourite by far is the People section. The way you broke down the races and classes and such with those illustrations is just masterful, you did a great job all around and certainly raised the bar for the community as a whole!
Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. The Renovation process is moving allot slower than I’d like, and there’s still a way to go, but it’s really rewarding to get your feedback.
I agree with the others before me. The “Places” page is majestic and breathtaking.
Tad, I enjoyed reading your Inspiration page update today. It’s good to know where inspirations lie. I don’t know what you updated because I don’t remember reading it before. It makes me think it might be something I might add to mine.
Mark aka twiggyleaf
hey, i was flipping through your awesome new layout, and found an incorrect link on http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/age-of-legends/wikis/people. The glossary button links to religion. Just wanted to let you know, keep up the awesome work, it’s looking fantastic.
My god! This is fantastic Arsheesh! Well done and keep up the good work! This is truly an inspiration to everyone here at OP!
I agree with sandman that your “places” page just looks incredible, but what’s most impressive to me is the “latest update” page. I’ve been wondering what the best way to draw peoples attention to what I felt were not just the newest but most significant parts of the website, and I think this might be it. So if it’s okay with you I just may borrow that idea :).
Wow, thanks you guys! It’s really encouraging to get such positive feedback, especially since I’ve only just begun the renovation process (there’s still quite a bit left to do).
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
The “Places” page looks awesome Arsheesh, just awesome!
Tad, I am liking your new updates on Hidroth Lea and the Cathedral of Ilandriol. Those are brilliant images. I enjoyed reading about the Relics Shop and the availability of items figures there. Cool idea. But that’s not all. I also like the way you put this feature in because of the way it reminds me of REAL relic shops in REAL museums. I always visit these and very rarely buy stuff there (prices are usually very high) but they are always interesting because you see things there that you don’t see in normal run-of-the-mill shops. I hope your RELICS SHOP within the cathedral upholds this “terran tradition” and that those characters who visit it find themselves some useful stuff!
Mark aka twiggyleaf
Wow, this campaign page is looking better and better. I’m terribly jealous of the beautiful look you’ve put together here. I must learn your secrets!
Arsh, your updates are unbelievable. The wiki is breathtaking. More things for me to jealously ponder as I wonder why the 10th Age looks so backward!
I agree with Duskreign 100%, an already amazing page just became more amazing! Not only do I love the aesthetic look of the new pages, but the detail and quality going into each article are truly commendable.
The article on the Marshes of Edalberith and the The Betheladorian & Avenian calendars alone were just magnificent. Well done sir as usual!
*ATTENTION: Age of Legends was already one of the most aesthetically breathtaking wikis on the Obsidian Portal. Strike that. It, and Tales of Darkmoon Vale were largely responsible for my interest in improving Wrymshadow. I was jealous, inspired, and awestruck by these wikis in equal measure. I was honored to have been approached by you when you decided to take on the task of a massive wiki update, and I am thrilled that you have decided to convert this site from one devoted to a single campaign to one worthy of delivering to the masses a glimpse of your wondrous world.
Take your time, Arsheesh. It already was an amazing site, and I can already see the blooming of brilliance and innovation on this site.
Your friend and fan,
- Duskreign
ATTENTION: Age of Legends is currently undergoing a fairly major renovation. As such, you might have noticed some discontinuity in the layout of this site. Eventually this will all get straightened out, but there’s no telling how long it will take, as there are many pages to get to. At any rate, for now I just want to thank all the good people here at the Forums who have inspired and encouraged me in this process.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
okay, that new test page is amazing, how did you do it?
I like the Slang and Terminology wiki. Two phrases strike a resonant note with me – one being “whiff” (Great word, and if nicotine were included I would be one heavy whiffer) The other is “twig” – the word for wood elf – “Twiggyleaf, a wood elf I shall be.”
Mark
Still very much a work in progress Dusk but I’m happy you noticed. I’ll let you know when I’ve got it put together.
Ooooooo! New Home Page in the woiks? I can’t friggin wait!
Arsheesh -
Thanks for the kind words for Chronicles of a Dead Empire. Much of my inspiration actually came from the Age of Legends and Tales of Darkmoon Vale, so it made my day to get the compliment from you. And the same here
- if I were on the west coast and not doing a couple campaigns, I’d love to play in your campaigns also. :)Mntineer
What an incredible layout! And the story is so creative and open. Very well done Arsheesh, this campaign is truly an inspiration. Keep up the good work!
Out of your three campaigns this one is my favorite. Can’t really much more than what has already been said. Awesome.
Hey, Tad! Whenever you get a minute, I was wondering if you could add something to your rules page. My cleric (Fethradan) has access to a spell from Complete Divine named “Weapon of the Deity,” which temporarily enhances your weapon in a way that is unique to your patron deity.
Since your campaign world has its own unique patron deities (such as Eridial), I was wondering if you could specify what the weapon enhancement would be for this spell, for each of your patron deities. (Or, since only Fethradan needs this right now, you could just start with specifying the enhancement corresponding to Eridial.)
Here is a wiki page that describes “Weapon of the Deity” (within the context of the author’s own custom campaign world): http://bertball.com/wiki/index.php?title=Weapon_of_the_Deity_(Spell)&printable=yes&printable=yes
Thanks abunch! Craig
Arsheesh, I’m impressed with your Adventure Logs, and I think that I am going to reformat the Wyrmshadow logs to emulate your style a bit. I’ll make all my own graphics and tweak it to be my own, but I wanted you to know I was making the move, and that you inspired it.
Thanks, man!
- Duskreign.
I loved Romen’s Journal (First Entry): Writing style was like Tolkien and Lovecraft rolled into one. I found it moving, (sentimental Old Git that I am!)
Nice little write up Craig!
Hey, Tad! I saw the first part of your post for Etimar. Can’t wait for the remainder :)
Well, believe it or not, I posted my first journal entry! It is short, but composing those two paragraph’s felt like giving birth ;) (Soo warned me in the past that, being a guy, I have no business using that metaphor. Oh well, I couldn’t resist.) I suppose one could chalk it up to the fact that Romen is a man of few words ;)
Well Craig, I decided to divide the Etimar Dungeon Delve adventure into two parts. I’m done with the first part, and I’ll write the second whenever I can find time.
Heck yes it would! I’ll create a wiki section on this sometime tomorrow. Yeah, I’m super excited to move onto the next major plot thread of our campaign. I’m not sure when I’ll have time to write up a proper adventure log of the last several months of our Dungeon delve, but I’ll be ambitious and shoot for the end of the week.
Woohoo! Great game tonight, Tad, wrapping up our dungeon-delve in the Ruins of Etimar!
Would it be possible to enable adventure journals on the “Age of Legends” website, similar to the way we can add journal entries on the “Tales of Darkmoon Vale”? I’d love to toss in a few comments from Romen on the vanquishing of the chuul-queen, and the possibility that we are actually holding a gate-key to one of The Seven Lost Cities!!!
Good God man those dungeons are amazing! Truly never before has something so terrifying and dreadful as a dungeon been such a thing of beauty! I’m certainly tempted to try to build a sci-fi equivalent for my own campaign after looking at your final product.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. Gaaran, yeah the dungeon was a bit of an undertaking, which is why I wouldn’t recommend such a project to everyone. If a person has the time, the money and the inclination, it can be a lot of fun though (in fact I really didn’t have the time or the money but I splurged).
Sandman, the water is made out of a clear resin which I added a bit of dye. I then slathered on an a 5 minute epoxy glue on top to create the appearance of ripples. Bruce Hirst has made a tutorial on how to to this here.
Daaaamn Arsheesh, your homemade dungeons look awesome! What did you use for the water effect?
Holy crap man! I just looked at some of your pics of your concrete dungeons, those are fantastic! I can’t imagine how long they took/where you keep them, but they look crazy awesome.
Arsheesh, I just had a look at your world map. Exquisite!!
This really cool looking game/setting. I wouldn’t mind dusting off my 3.5 books to play in it :)
Wow … great looking site.
Once again Arsheesh, congratulations for your featured campaign!!!
The map of Eriond was made using GIMP. I would also like to credit Ascension from the Cartographers Guild, whose tutorial I made substantial use of in the creation of this map. You can find a link to the Cartographers Guild here.
What program did you use to draw that map? It’s beautiful.
Thanks Dalor, I’m sure you will. Oh, and don’t worry about the triple post, I deleted the first two.
WOW…I guess I was SOOOO excited by your game I triple posted! Sorry about that! LOL
I am really impressed by your game! Congratulations, I hope that I can learn the ins and outs of Obsidian Portal to make my game look as good as your own!
Hey Craig, I know you’re busy with finals right now, but just in case you’re interested my wife uploaded Phadran’s bio recently. It’s got quite a bit of detail about her past that you guys didn’t know about Phadran, but she figures that she has gotten to know the party well enough that she would have shared this information with all of you during down-time.
Wow… I don’t know what to say Jim. I’m honored to hear that you think so highly of our campaign site. Thanks for encouragement.
Since I haven’t said it here before, this is one of my favorite 5 campaigns on this site, and I’ve browsed quite literally HUNDREDS. More telling is that one of my other favorite 5 is another of arsheesh’s campaigns. You have a talent sir. I want you to join my campaign just to help me with my funky formatting haha!
So, I finally got around to looking at your religion page after the comment you left on mine. Wow, there is definitely some striking similarities there. I have to say, I really dug your description. You obviously have a very fleshed-out backstory for your campaign. I gotta say I’m a little envious. I’d like to get that detailed with my campaign writings, but I can barely get my players to read what’s there. ;) For now, I’m introducing stuff to them via meeting it in the world, and keeping my own writing a little smaller so it’s not as intimidating to them. Ah, well.
I’ve basically kept the D&D default deities and sort of wrapped them up into my cosmology to help familiarity with players, so I’m curious how successful you’ve been at getting your players to remember all your God’s names and what they stand for. And if you’ve been successful, got any tips? :)
Wow, thanks MB, I’m flattered that you think so. And I must say, from what I have read of your site so far, I am quite impressed.
Thanks for the fave! This might be the most beautiful campaign page on the site. Love it!
Like Gaaran I may too borrow the banner idea for individual adventures as a way sprucing up the adventure log page and making each story stand out individually from all the rest. Another very nice idea sir!
Thanks for the kind words Gaaran, I’m glad you liked the banners. You’ve got an epic campaign world yourself, so I don’t know what this “eventually rival” business is all about. Thanks for stopping by as well, always encouraging to get feedback.
Cheers, Arsheesh
I love the adventure log banners, I was trying to think of what i should add to my site to spruce things up… smacks forehead banners! duh! Thanks for the reminder :). Also, pretty awesome site and story you have going here, hopefully i can eventually rival yours :).
No way! How cool is that? Thanks for sharing this with us Sandman, what a treat.
Check it out arsheesh: Favorite Campaigns
Just a note to anyone who might be interested, I’ve just reformatted the site’s layout and thrown in some new navigation features in the hopes of improving the overall interface of the site.
Hey thanks guys, it’s always encouraging to get positive feedback. Of course helpful tips and critiques are also more than welcome.
Cheers,
-Arsheesh
Love the new character The Lich-Lord of Varthogall Undead rullz
Thanks for your comment on my campaign arsheesh. REALLY nice banners you added to your adventure log, it gives each entry an atractive look.
Hey thanks, Craig. I agree with you on the chimera sketch, I’ve always loved that drawing. I hope you find the new site layout to be more user friendly than the old one.
Cheers,
-Tad
Great new graphics on the Adventure Log page, Tad! And you happened to pick one of my all time favorite sketches from the 3rd edition D&D art—the sketch of the chimera. I used to use that as my desktop background several years back :) To me, that sketch is absolutely flawless! It doesn’t get better than that. How much fun was it for me that day when you actually had us stumble upon a chimera, battling it over multiple locations along the countryside?!? Good times! :)
Hey, Tad! Here’s a link to that detailed map that I mentioned to you. It’s the one that I said your map reminded me of. It’s a map of the regions surrounding “The Theocracy of the Pale”—the region I used to adventure in, back when I played in the RPGA’s Living Greyhawk campaign:
http://www.theocracyofthepale.com/downloads/map_pale_detailed_large.jpg
Should we change the name of our band? I think Tad brought this up once. We actually have five adventurers, counting Thelend. So instead of “The Four Horns,” what about something like “The Horns of Andunai”? Or is that too blatant a connection? Anyway, that’s just a starting idea. Thoughts?
Ok, Tad. I finally dug up Mara’s background story on our old PC. I uploaded it to Obsidian Portal, under Mara’s bio :)
Nice! I’ll have to check it out after the fallout of finals clears. By the way, I just received my copy of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook in the mail. It’s sitting at my feet right now as I type—tempting me.
Hey, Tad! I just stumbled on this link. It’s a hyper-text version of the freely available portions of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game rules: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/
Sounds Great.
By the way, I recently purchased both the Pathfinder Bestiary and Core Rulebook through Amazon. I just received the former, and am expecting the later to arrive next week. Can’t wait to dive into them during the break. Good times! I’m curious to see how your new build for Romen turns out. I think the decision to switch over is a wise one.
Cheers.
Yep, we had a great time, Tad! And thanks for the vote of confidence on the Minotaur Lord ;) It should be a thriller!
I’ve been working on updating my characters in my spare time. Once I finish the hard copies, I’ll transfer the info over to the website.
(FYI, once we’re in the Christmas break and we’re making the transition to Pathfinder, I think I’m actually going to run with your offer and map Romen over to a base Wizard class. I’ll go with Wizard and then start taking levels in War Weaver. He pretty much wouldn’t be able to take advantage of War Weaver unless he was a Wizard. I have no significant access to support spells from my Warmage class. Recasting him as a Wizard gels well with the fact that he’s been integrating with the Mage’s Guild via the Mage of the Arcane Order class. The idea will be that, by means of this integration with the Mage’s Guild, he has begun to veer away from rapid casting from memory towards working from a spell book. In fact, the class feature at 4th level of Mage of the Arcane Order is “New Spell,” meaning you get to write a new spell in your spell book. That would have been useless to me as a Warmage, but it shows how the Mage’s Guild would have been encouraging him to use a spell book. Thus my previous D&D 3.5 build of “Warmage/Mage of the Arcane Order” will turn into “Wizard/War Weaver” in Pathfinder.)
Hi all,
Hope you all had a good time on Saturday, I sure did. Anyway, God’s blessings on all of the end of the semester activities. Can’t wait till its all over and done with so we can hang out again. Oh, and don’t sweat the whole upcoming Minotaur Lord battle…too much anyway. It’ll be tough, but my goal is not to kill the party (where’s the fun in that?), but to provide you guys with some heroic challenges. Anyway, until next time, cheers.
Yes, I felt the same way when I re-read Romen’s old bio :)
On another note, I’m jazzed about the idea of getting tangled up in some of these war-time skirmishes. After looking over the War Weaver prestige class, I think I’m gonna have Romen go down that road and take some levels in it. After reading and thinking about the notion of creating an eldritch fabric that connects several people, I realized how much that overlaps what’s going on with the Mage of the Arcane Order prestige class (which Romen is currently progressing through). In a sense, he’s making an arcane connection to other mages to tap into that spell-pool. Although these are not identical kinds of arcane connections for the two classes, the conceptual similarity makes for a fluid transition in Romen’s character growth, while playing right into the war-skirmishes on the horizon.
Oh, and I’ll correct it to “Mierodran” :)
Thanks Phadran and eriondscribe, I appreciate the feedback. Eriondscribe, great character bio for Romen. I hadn’t read Romen’s bio in some time and it renews my interest in continuing to develop the plot thread of the lost cities of Tarnan’ Duliad. One minor update corrections to Romen’s Bio: recall that the name “Mierodoth” has been changed to “Mierodran.” Looking forward to seeing you guys this weekend!
Awesome lead image! I love the stark relief of the red lettering on the gray vista :)
Way to go, Tad! Thanks for finding this for us and inviting us to pass through the Obsidian Portal :)
I am amazed at the beauty and detail of this page. Truly, I have found a world worthy for me to dwell….
