Order of the Ram
he Knightly Order of the Ram represents the very best of Caldoranth’s military might. Only those willing to embark upon a treacherous quest to prove their worth are inducted into this order. The doughty men and women that dawn the horned helm of the ram are committed to the patriotic national ideals of Strength in honor, courage in battle, and fortitude in adversity. The knights of the Ram are the elite protectors of the northern reaches, and represent an important symbolic link between Caldoranth’s past, its present, and its future.
The knighthood is at once ancient, and new. It was established by Barathund during the rise of Bethelador at the dawn of the second age. However the knights were slain, down to the last man, protecting the city of Bethelador during the War of the Damned. All to no avail. The city was destroyed, and its people scattered. Not for a thousand years after was the knighthood renewed. Yet when the armies of the Demon Lords drove the remnants of Endilar to the norther-most reaches of civilization, the heirs of Bethelador began to cast their eyes backward to the land of their heritage, and remember better days. There at the edge of civilization the nation of Caldoranth emerged, and with it, the rebirth of the Order of the Ram. A knight of the Ram swears an oath of fealty to the Lord of the realm, and pledges his life both to defend the nation of Caldoranth, and to seek to restore the former lands of Endilar by the sea, home of the fallen city of Bethelador.
